This was a big one for me — implementing the new last.fm API. I have submitted my changes to wordpress.org, so you should see a message on the plugins page that the new version is available.
To make this happen before my holidays, I had to disable some things from the previous version:
- uploading images (already uploaded images will remain in your cache directory)
- selecting a style
Please let me know how this new version works for you in the comments! I’m especially interested in what you think of the new option ‘get more images if necessary’.
If any bugs show up I’ll try to fix them before this or another sundown.
Welkom! Op deze pagina's vind je meer info over mij en het werk dat ik als zelfstandig programmeur uitvoer (en hier en daar een spelletje).

wow, cool, thanks for updating this, it’s my favorite WP plugin! I would get the ‘no images available’ message with the previous version. So I downloaded 1.4 but now I get the following error :(
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in [...]wp-content/plugins/last.fm/last.fm.php on line 17
cool&thank you sir!
I get this error, when I try to activate :(
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in [snip...]/wp-content/plugins/lastfm/last.fm.php on line 17
Thanks!
Only one thing… in the options page appear this at the top:
“All images equal in size # First image twice as big # Image with text # # # ? >”
The problem starts on line 691 of your code.
@Rose, @dpzeh: sorry, you need PHP5 on your hosting server for the plugin as I needed it to read the new datafeeds from last.fm. I’ll add a remark to the plugin page.
@Ignatius: good catch. It’s fixed and goes out with the next version.
same error when i active ‘last.fm.php on line 17′. ?
thanks for the reply Jeroen! I think my host supports PHP5 (it’s media temple) so it might just be that I need to do the switch from PHP4 to PHP5. Hopefully, because I love your plugin!
Hi
Thanks for the work on my fav plugin
Cam by to report this error:
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or ‘}’ in [...]wp-content/plugins/last.fm/last.fm.php on line 17
Seems that this is possibly due to my not having PHP5?
Any chance of a PHP4 friendly version as I am stuck with PHP4 due to what my host provides…
@ Jeroen: I just updated my host to support PHP5 but the plug-in is still not working. I’m getting the abovementioned syntax error. Any ideas?
Nevermind. Re-downloaded and got it working.
Thanks for the wonderful plug-in. :)
@Chris: you’re welcome — I’m glad it’s working for you.
I switched to PHP5 and it’s working now! :D
a couple of things though, the weekly charts option gives me the ‘no images to display message’, and for recent tracks I only get 4 covers showing, even though I have the image count sent to 8… :/
oops… I just saw the option for getting more images if necessary, sorry for the double post!
although, when I check that option it completely replaces the 4 images I’m currently getting for my recent tracks with all the covers for the last three months. so, currently, whether I have ‘show recent tracks and get more images if necessary’, or ‘show last three months’, I get the same result.
@Rose: that’s something I will look into. Thanks for telling me.
Will the php5 error be fixed soon?
I currently have php 5 but am getting this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_PUBLIC in /homepages/0/d266463868/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/last.fm/last.fm.php on line 30
any ideas?
Thanx
